King Bruce of Scotland fought against the English again and again.But he was always defeated at their hands. He was so disappointed that he ran away into a jungle and did himself in a cave.
One day he saw a spider trying to reach its cobweb near the ceiling.
He saw it go up and fall down nine times. Nevertheless it did not lose heart.
At last it tried for the tenth time, and its efforts were crowned with success.
“If a spider, “he exclaimed, “can succeed by trying again and again, there is no reason why I should not.
“He left the cave and led his forces against the English army once again.
They fought hard and won the battle.
Thus he succeeded in liberating his country.
MORAL
The Qur'an teaches: “And that there is nothing for man except what he tried, His efforts shall be seen. And rewarded to fullest extent.” (Sura An-Najm 53:39-41)
